Christmas Themed Self Care Day

Hello all. So I've not been feeling my best self recently. I have deadlines approaching and my mental health has been taking a bit of a slip so I decided to have a self care day but not just any self care day. A CHRISTMAS THEMED SELF CARE DAY.
I love Christmas because I think it's the time of year that you can show the most love (although we should always show it all year round). However, I haven't been showing a lot of love to myself recently so it felt right to make my self care day Christmas themed.
The great thing about this is that it can be done on your own or with a friend/loved one and on a budget! Here are some of the things I did on my Christmas Themed Self Care Day.

A Walk in Knitwear

There is something about dressing in my nice fluffy coat, scarf and knitted hat that makes me feel festive. I feel all cozy and warm against any bitter wind. Going for a walk in them makes me feel sweet and cute like I'm walking in a duvet.

Get a Warm Drink

My favourite warm drink to get during the festive season is without a doubt a vanilla hot chocolate! Holding it to keep your hands warm as you walk about is just the best. So find a nice festive warm drink to take round with you.

P.S. I did have my own cup to be environmentally friendly but I lost it so make sure you all try and get a reusable cup too.

Wander the Christmas Markets

Christmas markets bring me a lot of joy. I always have fond memories of Christmas markets. There is a German one in my home town every year so it just fills me with excitement. There's also something magical I think about seeing truly unique pieces and items for presents. Makes you feel special and it makes me feel even better to buy from a small business rather than a chain. Take your time strolling along looking at each booth. I happened to stumble across a very big and fluffy dog during this time and I was very happy afterwards.

P.S Always good to try and support small businesses this time of year and they're perfect for when you want to buy a present that isn't just run of the mill.

Take a Moment

What is important is to not find yourself rushing around too much and actually stop and take a moment and find somewhere warm. I really wanted to go back into a little spot I found in a coffee shop and read my book. So whether you chose to read a book or catch up with a friend somewhere warm make sure to take a breather and relax.

Look at the Christmas Lights

Aside from just looking at what the Christmas market had I also wanted to see it in it's full glory all lit up and pretty. Christmas at night is one of the things that sparks complete joy in me. I wanted to take a moment to look around at the pretty lights and feel calm. If you have a chance to walk around your town and see the Christmas lights in the dark have a real look at them. Let them excite you like they would when you were little! It's a lovely feeling.

Put on a Christmas Candle

I adore candles and they really soothe me so it only felt right to bring out the festive candles when I got home.

Watch a Christmas Film

It would be incredibly daft to leave this out. I knew the film I had to start with. I knew there was no way I would watch any other film first except for...Love Actually. My absolute favourite Christmas film. So it was time to get into PJ's and have something nice for dinner and watch Alan Rickman by the office tart a necklace and watch Emma Thompson cry...bastard. Try and end your day feeling cozy and snug and watch a festive film or episode of a TV show you love.

I hope this has helped inspire some of you to have your own Christmas themed self care day. What else that I haven't mentioned would you do for your own version?
